What is it?
This intensive screenwriting course is designed for those artists who aspire to create something true, good, and beautiful in the world. It is not a guarantee that you will be a successful screenwriter – no course could possibly be – but if you are able to complete the course it is guaranteed that you will learn efficiently, effectively, and truly, the way to write a good screenplay. A good screenplay is one that is complete in all of it’s parts, compelling to audiences, has a universal marketable appeal, and is not offensive. The principles at work in screenwriting are objective, measurable, and knowable; once the principles are known, they are concretely applicable. After this method is learned, consistent repetition develops true skill in writing. This program is effective because it is structured, beginning with a philosophical foundation and building upward towards true understanding of the art of screenwriting. This important head knowledge is coupled with an intense month of writing under the tutelage of a working professional screenwriter, concretely applying philosophical knowledge to a work of narrative art.

Meet the Instructor

Jeremy Pope is an award-winning screenwriter, film director, and university professor. He has written and directed film projects, theater productions and audio dramas, and his work has been seen and heard by millions around the world. His journey began while studying for his undergraduate degree in Film and Television Arts. During this time he noticed that he was being taught the mechanics of filmmaking, but the professors were not teaching the underlying philosophical principles which make the mechanics work. Jeremy then searched for an instructor who could help him go deeper into the great artistic philosophical tradition of the west. He received his Master of Fine Arts degree in Screenwriting from Regent University, and spent the next three years studying the philosophy of narrative art. After this he began writing screenplays again and saw immediate success. He was soon hired to teach digital film and screenwriting at Grand Canyon University where he continues to teach today. He created the Genesius Intensive Screenwriting Program for those students who are underwhelmed by the philosophically impoverished university programs as a way for them to go deeper into the philosophy of storytelling itself.
